More than 100,000 organizations are already empowering their employees to boost productivity and enhance the quality of their work with Gemini for Google Workspace. To help even more organizations work better, Gemini is expanding language support to seven additional languages. This expansion makes Gemini for Workspace increasingly accessible to over 1 billion people whose first language is now supported.

Starting this week, the following new languages will be supported by Gemini in the side panel of Google Docs, Sheets, Drive, and Gmail:

  • German
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Portuguese
  • Spanish
  • French

Whether you’re writing social media copy in a Doc, summarizing details from multiple files in Drive, or catching up on your Gmail inbox, you can do it now in any of these languages within the side panel. Additional language support for Gemini in the side panel of Slides will be added in the coming months.

Since launching support for these languages to our Alpha users last month, Google Workspace have collected feedback and optimized the product experience for our global audience. For instance, organizations in Europe like Randstad and Devoteam are already using Gemini for Workspace in English, and now they will be able to use Gemini in their preferred language. Brazil-based Natura is already benefiting from using Gemini in in English, and now can use Gemini in other preferred languages, including Spanish or Portuguese:

“I’m also a beta tester, and I’ve seen a massive improvement in my ability to simply start a new project. With Gemini, I have support when I’m staring at a blank Doc or empty cells in a Sheet because I can ask it to help generate ideas or build a spreadsheet template. It also helps prompt me with analytical questions that I’d have never thought to ask. I’m looking forward to empowering everyone at Natura with their own AI agent.” — Renata Marques, CIO, Natura

Gathering the right details from various files, decks, and documents is a common challenge for sales teams. Salespeople often spend too much time searching for specific information instead of preparing for an important pitch. With Gemini in Drive, you can ask for a summary of the most relevant information about your product or customer. Within seconds, Gemini gathers this information and displays it in the side panel, allowing you to nail the preparation for your customer meeting.
